Blue textured paneled yapped boards with gilt spine lettering, gilt horizontal ruling above and below title lettering, blind front and rear device and glossy brown endpapers and pastedowns. Moderate edgewear. Bumped corners. Heavy chipping to the crown, foot and corners. Spine toned. Boards soiled. Slight quarter-sized dampstaining to the top-edge of almost second half of pages. Page edges age toned. Endpapers and pastedowns soiled. Inked gifter's inscription: 'Hon. John Bell, // Nashville, // Tennessee, // With [my?] kind regards // , // H. [T.?] [F??h]' to the second front free endpaper (John Bell of the House of Rep. and Senate in TN). Small creasing to the bottom corner of the rear free endpaper.
