Grades 1-8. This new training program, which includes 72 classroom and schoolwide activities, is built around Three Basic Rules: being kind to ourselves, being kind to one another, and being kind to this space; and The Kindness Pledge: seeking to be positive, putting down put-downs, honoring our differences, discovering our similarities, healing our hurts, listening to one another, honoring heroes, reaching higher for success, and living our dreams. During the program, students are rewarded and recognized for their acts of kindness. Cultivating Kindness promotes a positive school environment, lowers tension among groups, decreases the number of disciplinary reports, and teaches students the social skills they need to be successful adults.

Part 1: Kind Schools - 20 schoolwide activities for creating a safe and loving environment where students are treated fairly and kindly by peers, teachers, and staff. Activities cover creating a mission statement, selecting members of a task force and action groups, organizing schoolwide events, and more.Part 2: Kind Classrooms - 52 classroom lessons for helping students develop a positive group identity. These lessons, grouped separately for grades K-3 and grades 4-8, are presented in sequences that show students how to apply the principles of kindness to their lives at school.This program offers guidance in making the school a safe environment in which students are motivated to excel, and it teaches students the skills they need to respect themselves, others, and the learning space.
