This resource for industrial and organizational psychologists, human resource professionals, and managers explains how to identify, measure, and develop talent in the workplace and looks at some of the ways in which talent-centered approaches are misunderstood or ignored. The psychology of talent addressed in the book embraces both understanding talent itself from a psychological perspective and understanding how talent is perceived and used. Most of the book focuses on talent in the individual, but one chapter is devoted to talent in teams. The book defines elements of talent and surveys movements in the field, such as positive psychology. It describes various methods for assessing talent and addresses the sense of mistrust that often arises when using psychological assessment processes. Chapter summary points are included, however the volume lacks a subject index. Robert Edenborough is a chartered psychologist and registered occupational psychologist. Marion Edenborough has 25 years of experience in talent research and applications. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
