A multidisciplinary group of editors (affiliated variously with Miami U. and the U. of New England) present an undergraduate-level interdisciplinary introduction to international studies. The interdisciplinary nature of the topic is reinforced through the presentation of opening chapters addressing historical, geographical, anthropological, economic, and political science approaches. Regional issues are then discussed in chapters devoted to Europe, East Asia, South and Central Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Latin America (topically guided by issues that are contextually chosen and don't attempt any thematic unity). A final set of chapters examine select contemporary issues, including international terrorism, Turkey and its relation the European Union, tourism along the Silk Road, the partition of Sudan, and the implications of global population projections.
