A young kitten is shuttled around, winding up at an animal shelter, where she meets an unusual group of cats, each with a different story. Making friends with one special older cat, they are separated as they begin their own journeys, which are not always pleasant. Longing for a life free of humans making decisions that impact her life, the kitten decides to run away and live the wild life, surviving by her wits. As she makes her way through harsh weather and inhospitable terrain, trying to avoid a number of hostile wild animals who seem intent on doing her harm, she comes to realize that living on her own may not be the ideal situation. She faces rejection and abandonment, encounters some of her former friends, and experiences much joy and contentment in her travels.
