The Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research, a network of 16 international research centers, established a task force devoted to understanding and promoting integrated natural resource management that incorporate concerns of poverty alleviation. Their work resulted in the 15 papers presented here by Campbell (Center for International Forestry Research, Indonesia) and Sayer (Worldwide Fund for Nature, Switzerland). This book discusses both the principles and applications of an integrated approach to natural resources management. It deals directly with the wider integration of natural resources, including the complexity of systems and redirecting research towards including participatory approaches, multi-scale analysis and an array of tools for system analysis, information management and impact asessment.This book has been developed from papers first presented at a workshop in Penang, Malaysia in 2000.
