An adventure story for ages 8 to 108. Seriously. This is a "children's story written for adults." It is perfectly acceptable for children, but much of the humor will appeal to adults. Here you will find a genie with narcolepsy; a flying carpet that watches television, including soap operas and old westerns; a caustic mouse; and a new (and very pretty) girlfriend. Escaping from Aunt Bertha, Nicholas Phree finds treasures in the attic of an old mansion, treasures that promise to hold the key to what happened to his parents, now missing for eight long years. The first task he must accomplish, with the help of all his new friends, is to recover the lost Emerald of Bool, deep inside troll-infested caverns beneath one of the highest mountains in the world, near the Himalayas. The trolls are hungry. Seriously hungry. But stupid. Seriously stupid. Oh, and there's that town bully, Burgess Mumm. What all of us wouldn't have given to have had a genie to take care of the Burgess Mumms in our lives. Oh, yeah.
