This clinical reference for nursing students and practitioners covers a wide-variety of medical-surgical conditions. Each of over 280 alphabetically arranged entries begins with a definition of a condition, followed by a description of its pathophysiology, incidence, and etiology. Next, clinical manifestations are listed, along with standard diagnostic tests. The reader is then given an outline of the steps of nursing management (assessment, implementation, client teaching, etc.) relating to the condition. Four appendices provide information on abbreviations, pharmacologic classifications, common conversions, and laboratory values. Broyles teaches nursing at Piedmont Community College in North Carolina. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
