Full, deeply embossed leather, densely decorated with gilt depicting the fourteen stations of the cross, several saints, and symbols of Jesus and Pope Pius IX. Brass buckles to fore-edge. AEG, and beautiful textured silver and gold foil endpapers. [90]+[16]+[60]+[30]+1670+[16]+[32] pp. Engravings and color plates throughout. Fair book. Moderate shelfwear. Spin leather lacking, with board leather chipping along spine edges. Corners slightly erose. Rear half of latches lacking, with two small holes each remaining at edge of rear board. Page edge gilt somewhat worn. Tears and edgewear to intermittent pages throughout, and several pages in "Dictionary of the Bible" section have been reinforced and repaired at edges. Photo pages at rear somewhat damaged. Previous owner's stamp to "The Stations of the Way of the Cross" title page verso, else inside appears unmarked.
