AEG, and deep gilt striped border to inside board edges. Burgundy moire silk first endsheets, and beautifully marbled second endsheets. Bound by Emile Rousselle, with his mark to inside front board. Inconsistent pagination. French. Generously illustrated, with decorative title, page and chapter headers and footers, small plates pasted to decorative borders, elaborate drop caps, page borders, etc. Near good book. Light edgewear. Spine head bumped, with about half of spine head edge and headband chipped off but laid in. Ribbon bookmark faded at head and detached, but laid in. Front board detached, along with both front endsheets. Moire silk wrinkled, and minor adhesion damage, likely from a previous bookplate, to front marbled endsheet. Previous owner's initials to top corner of 5th front endpage and title page, and purple stamp to title page. Minor dampstains to the fore-edge of a few pages, and mild intermittent foxing and toning, else inside very near fine - bright, clean, and firmly bound. A beautiful copy of this beautiful book.
