At Home with Art reconsiders the domestic environment as a context for contemporary art by discussing an exhibition of specially commissioned works that will be made available to the general public at affordable prices. It is in our homes that we express our personal tastes, yet as a place for the display of works of art the home has become marginalized in favor of public and institutional spaces. As a challenge to this stererotypical view, nine of Britain's leading sculptorsAngela Bulloch, Tony Cragg, Richard Deacon, Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, Permindar Kaur, David Mach, Richard Wentworth, and Alison Wildinghave been commissioned to design multiples which will be manufactured and made available in stores throughout England. At Home with Art documents the project in progress and includes an essay by curator Colin Painter. The texts are supplemented by photographs of the artists' drawings, prototypes, and finished objects.
