The following is a corrected version of the review that ran in the February 1997 issue of SciTech Book News . This is a new edition of a comprehensive reference on musculoskeletal injuries, for orthopedic surgeons and residents. Volumes 1&2 were published together as Rockwood & Green's Fractures in Adults (reviewed in the June 1996 issue of SciTech Book News ). The first section introduces the general principles of orthopedics, including the incidence and biological aspects of children's fractures, sedation and analgesia, management of the multiply injured child, physeal and apophyseal injuries, and problem injuries in unique conditions of the musculoskeletal system. The next three sections cover specific fractures of the upper extremity, the spine, and the lower extremity. These sections include anatomy, signs and symptoms, x-ray findings with examples, the author's preferred method of treatment, and operative treatment. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
