The Israelite Samaritans sanctify only the Five Books of the Pentateuch, explain Tsedaka and Sullivan (both A. B. Institute of Samaritan Studies), and about half of the some six thousand differences between their version and the Jewish Masoretic text are due to different orthography of the written words, which is rarely significant in an English translation. However, other changes--including long passages that are in one but not the other--signal difference in thought and worldview. English translations of the two texts are presented in parallel columns with marginal notes.
