Fajkowska (psychology, Polish Academy of Sciences, Poland) offers this integrative text on personality, anxiety, and depression. Paying careful attention to questions of definition, several distinctions within these typical categories of disorders are proposed and linked to a complex-system model of personality. Drawing on research from a variety of fields of psychology, interactions between temperament, personality coherence, mood & anxiety disturbances, and attentional stimulation processing are suggested. Extensive citations and some empirical data support the claims, but the need for further validation of this novel theoretical framework is stressed.
