Debossed border to both the front and rear boards. Yellow endpapers. xcv+287pp. B/W frontispiece engraving depicting Henry B. H. Beaufoy. Good book. Edgeworn with bumped and frayed corners. Spine tips crushed and more heavily worn. Joints rubbed, especially the rear. Remains relatively sound. A Library of Congress surplus duplicate with the library's ink stamps and notation to the copyright page. A few lines of pencil notation. Lightly toned. Mendel Peterson's copy with his personalized bookplate to the front pastedown. Peterson was the former curator of the Smithsonian Institution and is considered to be the father of underwater archaeology. A nice copy for it's age. Inquire if you need further information.
