Writing in a conversational style with dash of humor, Tull offers a memoir of life and her career as a diplomat in the 20th century. She describes her childhood in the WWII era and her education, then focuses on her career in the Foreign Service starting in 1963. After a term of service in Brussels, Tull worked in Vietnam from the late 1960s through the fall of South Vietnam in 1975. She also describes various research, administrative, and teaching assignments with the Foreign Service, and her later appointments as ambassador to Guyana and to Brunei. The book features a wealth of b&w photos from the author's collection. Annotation ©2013 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
