Light edgewear. Boards rubbed. Paper 'For Reference' label to the bottom-edge center of the front free endpaper. Bookplate removed from the front pastedown. Inked owner's signature: 'Ex Libris // Henry [Sherman?]' to the verso front free endpaper and also the same owner's name to typed letter glued to the second front free endpaper. Embossed library stamp to the title page. Penciled library call number to the upper verso title page. Penciled notes to the top and bottom gutter of the Preface page. Rubber red number stamp to the bottom of the Preface page. Heavy creasing to page 209-rear free endpaper. Masking tape to the top center of page 509, lower gutter of page 506 and gutter of pages 75-78. Soiling to the gutter of pages 506-509. Spine is cracked at page 282-283. Pages 283-300 nearly detached. Pages 11, 125, 189 and 267-270 detached, but present. Page edges and pages age toned. Typical period foxing to several pages throughout.
