Brick red double paneled boards with brown endpapers and pastedowns and decorative gilt spine lettering, device and horizontal ruling to the crown and foot, top-edge dyed black. Moderate edgewear. 1 3/4 inch of right side of bottom-edge of front board skinned. Bumped corners. Chipping to the crown, foot and corners. Boards slightly warped. Boards and spine soiled. Spine toned. Page edges and pages age toned. 1/2 inch closed vertical tear to the top-edge of the front free endpaper. Small crease to the upper corner of the rear free endpaper and pages 199-last page and to the bottom corner of pages 75-78. Light chipping to the upper fore-edge of pages 103-114. Heavy creasing to the bottom corner of pages 87-94. Marginal penciled markings to the right edge of the text on page 11. Finger smudging to the center fore-edge of page 47.
