The Global Geospace Mission is the American contribution to the International Solar Terrestrial Program. The first of the two spacecraft, WIND, was launched successfully on November 1, 1994; the second, POLAR, is scheduled for launch in December 1995. The articles in this volume describe the mission, the instruments, and the ground system associated with these two spacecraft. The volume begins with an overview of the mission, followed by an overview of the spacecraft, and a description of the international context of the GGS mission and how it and the ISTP program as a whole will be coordinated with the other operating spacecraft and ground programs under the auspices of the Interagency Consultative Group, IACG.
