Description

Cline (senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics) began this study in 2005 looking at the question of whether financial globalization is good or bad for economic growth. He finds beneficial aspects of financial globalization through the examination of approximately 80 studies with normalized data. He then goes on to do a more conservative estimate based on the technique of meta-analysis and still finds overall positive results. During the research period the economic crisis of 2007-2009 arose and required attention. Thus the last 90 pages of the book go into more detail about the role of financial globalization in a recession, but still finds it having modest beneficial results.
