This tutorial guide shows how to use the iPhone's Interface Builder, Cocoa Touch, the Objective-C programming language, and Xcode development tools to create iPhone and iPod touch applications. Assuming no prior C or Objective-C knowledge, the book begins with a review of C and a two-chapter tutorial on Objective-C, the language used for Cocoa and Cocoa Touch. Four chapters are devoted to the UIView subclass used when laying out an iPhone application. Other topics covered include the iPhone's camera, its built-in database, and using iTunes music in an application. Hands-on exercises and projects are illustrated with b&w screenshots on every page. Example code is accompanied by commentary describing programming techniques. Xcode for projects, plus videos walking through examples, are available on a web site. The book also includes chapter key concepts, and question and answer sections. Brannan has 15 years of experience working in IT. Annotation ©2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
