Schmitz (history, Whitman College) presents an integrated narrative of the foreign policy stances and activities of the Franklin Roosevelt administration, arguing that it provided the foundations for United States foreign policy through the Cold War. He also argues that Roosevelt was always an internationalist and that his actions that are considered evidence for an early isolationist proclivity were in fact mere political expediency.
