Although disparity in health care in America is well documented, data is severely limited on some issues, such as race, ethnicity, socio-economic position, acculturation and language. The panel authoring this report address the importance of measuring and analyzing this data, and describe the data available in the DHHS collection and in those of states and private sectors. The authors conclude that these measures should be obtained in all health and health care data systems, and that data should be linked to provide more data on a national level, within the bounds of privacy. Appendices include articles on surveys and methods of data collection. Annotation ©2004 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
