Schaumann's memoir of his life and adventures as an officer in the King's German Legion of the British Army during the Napoleonic Wars, 1808-14. He took part in John Moore's campaign in Spain, was present at Talavera, witnessed the battle of Bussaco and invasion of Portugal, fought at Fuentes d'Onoro and Vittoria, and accompanied the forces into France in 1814. He compiled a memoir for his family in later life; the part dealing with the war was translated from German to English in 1920. No bibliography or index is included. Annotation c.
