Roskin (political science, Lycoming College) has done an admirable job of providing the extremely complex history of Eastern Europe in a sensibly chopped-up and well-organized fashion that will be accessible to the undergraduates who read it. Roskin goes back to the Ottomans and Hapsburgs to lay the basis then provides the political history for each country with treatment of the World Wars, the Communist era, and the events since the 1980s.
