Falcoff (resident scholar, American Enterprise Institute) assesses the state of Cuban politics and economics and explores the likely prospects of U.S.- Cuban relations in the prospective post-Castro period. He argues that the Cuban sugar industry is in a shambles and there is little prospect for reinvigoration and that the collapse of the Cuban economy (due entirely to communism, he says) could lead to massive waves of immigration to the United States, a problem he sees as the most likely "security" problem to emerge from the island country.
