Rather brief treatments of some rather important topics. For example it seems unlikely that the 12 pages allocated to survival in the desert would be that useful, including such information as esoteric water finding techniques borrowed from the Kalahari Bushmen (the reader is cautioned that the technique may take some time to master). Chapters cover survival at sea, on mountains, in polar regions, in the tropics, and during natural disasters. Other topics include trapping and fishing, navigation and signalling, firemaking, tools and weapons, rafts and river crossings, and ropes and knots. Annotation c.
