Collectible - Very Good First Edition Signed With Dust Jacket

INSCRIBED! New York: Arcade Publishing, 1989. First edition. Sm 4to hardcover, with red paper boards and black textured paper spine. Gilt text to spine. Dust jacket is yellow with red and black text, and image of a hand holding a rose in red to front panel. 320pp. Inscribed by author's wife to front free endpaper, "For Lech Walesa, / Who personifies a / transformation of which / Michael could only dream, / conceptualize & for which he / so hoped. The last time he / truly smiled in the period before his / death was when he heard that / Imre Nagy had been reburied with / honor. / With admiration, gratitude / and hope-- / Stephanie Harrington / 11/12/89". Very good in near very good dust jacket. Jacket is shelfworn, frayed and narrowly dampstained to heel. Quarter-inch damp spot to rear panel, visible mostly from the inside. Book is bumped to spine tips, with single eighth-inch tear to foot. Small dent to top edge of front board, with accompanying small tear in the surface paper. Eraser marks surrounding the final line of the inscription where Harrington made a correction. Black pen underlining to pages 48, 49, 51, and 52, and page 75/76 dogearred, else inside near fine.
