Crime committed on college and university campuses has tended to be under-reported and under-attended to by the general populace. Some crimes, like underage drinking, have been quietly tolerated as a collegiate rite of passage. Other crimes, like date rape, have been swept under the carpet, especially if sports stars or children of influential alumni are the perpetrators. More recently, the level and seriousness of college crime has increased, as has the coverage of these crimes in the media. This book examines these trends, and takes a careful look at how seemingly innocent crime, like underage drinking, is directly connected to more serious offenses.
