Brown cloth with blue and yellow lettering on spine, purple dyed top-edge. xix+371pp. 12 illustrations, 3 maps. Laid in is a Christmas postcard from Eleanor Sherman Fitch [grandaughter of Wm. T. Sherman] addressed to Rosie [Fitch's niece] and family with inscription "Loving Christmas greetings // to Rosie and Bud and // to all the Richardsons // And a Happy New Year too // Aunt Eleanor // 1957". A handwritten note addressed to Rosie from Eleanor also laid in. Near Very Good book and Near Good dust jacket. Rosamond (Fitch) Richardson's copy with her ink stamp [Mrs. F. E. Richardson, Jr.] and pencil notation to the front endpage. The dust jacket was once taped to the endpapers and have left adhesive residue and stains. Otherwise Very Good. The dust jacket is edgeworn with tearing to the joint tips and a dime-sized hole along the front flaps joint; jacket's rear panel rubbed and underside foxed.
