Green cloth with gilt lettering and front board device dipicting the Sherman Monument. 410pp. Frontispiece "View of the Monument from the Northwest (White House)" and 27 additional illustrations. Previously owned by William Sherman Fitch. Inscribed "Wm. Sherman Fitch // from his // mother // December // Nineteen Hundred & Four." by Maria Ewing Sherman Fitch on the front blank. William Sherman Fitch was the grandson of General William Tecumseh Sherman. Poor book. Moderately shelfworn, slanted and dampstained, primarily to the bottom and fore edge. The lower corners of the boards has discolored and are nearly a cream color, the fore edge shows dark splotches. The dampstaining continues to the interior along those edges with occasional page adhesion and mildew staining. Front hinge cracked.
